Well, you can probably force it to somehow. But the simplest way to
edit the HTML directly is with a text editor, like Notepad or
whatever. Won't help much unless you know HTML, of course.

I doubt it's unlimited, but take a look around the AOL website,
they've probably got instructions somewhere (I mean, essentially
you're going to need to upload files somewhere, most probably either
through an FTP client or some kind of web interface, but it's the
specifics of _where_, and what kind of registration procedures you
need to go through). There are places like Geocities and so on where
you can get free webspace, but you have to put up with advertising for
the most part. I don't know enough about any of them to make a
recommendation. If your ISP's not adequate, mail Christophe and he can
set you up an account at free.
