Exactly! Which is why it makes excellent material for you to explore in the
safety of a conculture. As Suzette Haden Elgin often writes, science
fiction and fantasy enables us to create "thought experiments" where we can
explore other realities.
Do try _Poetic Diction_. I myself haven't read _Saving the Appearances_,
but I just went to http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/081956205X/ and
added it to my Wish List, a great new feature of Amazon. (Since my
friends/family always say, "We know you love books, but you have so many, we
could never buy you one!")
