In case somebody cares, the situation is similar in Sweden.

The Tairezans certainly has some sort of "personal communicator devices",
but I don't what they call 'em. The Kalana and the Yargish Orcs live (in
their separate coniverses) on roughly medieval technological levels, and
therefore don't have anything remotely like telephones. The Orcs' shamans,
however, are able to communicate over great distances via the parallel
magical plane of this coniverse; the word for doing this is _chaz_ [tSaz],
and the word word for shaman is simply _chazan_, _-an_ being an agental
suffix (a productive one, unlike the _-g_ seen in _khurg_ "chief" and _yarg_
"warrior").
