Borrowing involves incorporating single words or idioms into a single language,
more or less adapting them to the phonological and/or morphological habits of that
language.  When I tell you that my former boss was a Korinthenkacker, I am
borrowing a German word, but not code switching: the language remains English.

Code switching involves actually changing the language you are speaking within
the course of an utterance, often inside a sentence.
