But do is so much more clunkly when you try to work it that way! And it has
another meaning. I mean, a word whose specific function is to emulate the
preceding verb. Kind of the way "si" does in esperanto, if any of you speak
it. Actually, maybe you're right about "do". I don't think I use it that
way... But to do is also an aýiliary verb (helping verb).
