Japanese works kind of like this... they're treated as another class to an
extent and act like verbs in other respects, but actually, an adjective
doesn't mean something like "red".... it means something like "is red". That
might be one way to handle it and there are such things as past tense
adjectives ["hon wa kurokatta": "the book was black". "hon wa kuroi": "the
book is black"]. As for adverbs, it may be possible to do a workaround for
those adverbs based on nouns/adjectives (ex. "happily") and just stick words
in flat otherwise (ex. "today"), but someone else likely has a better idea.
