TECH: Is there a Mediawiki developer in the house?

Noodling around with the guts of Mediawiki might be slightly
off-topic, but my goal is Conlangish, and there seem to be a decent
number of PHP/MySQL types around these parts, so I'm declaring myself
on-topic.
I plan to produce a wiki-style collaborative project for
historical/comparative linguist(ic)s. Rather than starting from
scratch, I've decided to look at forking Mediawiki, but as yet all
I've managed to do is install a running Mediawiki system, and I'm kind
of floundering on where to go from here, aside from opening up
index.php and seeing what it does.
So, if anyone here is ready, willing, and able to exchange thoughts
with me from time to time (either as a linguist, coder, or DBA),
please get in touch. This will not be a fast-moving project.
Paul
