Hi,
As for Rich Text ... hm, at least for me HTML gets regularly mangled when I
download emails in plain-text from GMail and then import them into Outlook
Express. So I for one would prefer plain text (Unicode is OK, though) due
to personal technical limitations. You could also place the RTF file
somewhere to download, though.

As I understand it:
<...> is used for orthography, i.e. the word as it is written, cf. German
<schreiben> (to write)
/.../ is used for the _phonemic_ transcription of the word, which means
that only the distinguishing features are written down, cf.
German /'SrAI).b@n/
[...]is used for the _phonetic_ transcription of the word, which means that
the word is written down just like the speaker pronounces it. Of course,
there may be extremely narrow transcriptions and more lose ones, cf. German
(Carsten's ideolect) ['SRAe_-).b_}m=]
Yours,
Carsten
