Also, the Gulf of California is called the "Sea of Cortez" sometimes.
Along with the Salton Sea, which is a big, salty lake in the Salton
Basin in California, formed when the Colorado broke its banks after an
irrigation project went wrong (although it's been known to flood many
times in the past few hundred years)
