Except that since the USA is a somewhat Spanish-speaking country*, we'd
probably interpret [k_hAr\lAs] as 'Carlas'. The only way i've ever
heard Americans pronounce 'Carlos' is as [k_hAr\lows] (dialectal
variation in the exact vowels is fine), with a clear secondary stress
on the second syllable.
