NRW, Ba-Wü, Meck-Pomm are actually the only abbreviations that are actually
used in everyday speech. On the milk cartons (word?!), I guess on the
bottles as well, there is often found the official abbreviations. At least
on the milk my mom uses to buy.
As for the American abbreviations, I don't know all of them, althogh I can
guess when I'm in doubt, because I know the names of most states (but don't
know where they are on the map in most cases).
