Is this because "it comes from french so it should be spelled that way!"?

Because it makes perfect sense to spell it "color" in Spanish. So i don't see why it
makes less sense to spell it that way (pronunciation wise for me the spelling
makes no difference, especially when
color, odor, armor, victor, all have their "-or"s pronounced the same way to everyone around me).
