Yes, it's deeply weird --- but AFAIK it's the only editor on UNIX that
tries to use TrueType fonts and Unicode at the same time. I'd be happy
to see someone hack it over into something Motif-like.

The keymaps aren't really the point. Does KDE or Qt3 have a textarea
widget that does Unicode combining diacritics? I might consider moving
beyond xterm and fvwm2, then.
