"Vanilla" as in "ordinary", nothing deliberately unusual about it, at least not wildly so. It was designed to make translating into it easy rather than interesting, at least for me. It was fairly isolating, and had simple cases & tenses, and pretty well just CV(C) syllables. Relative clauses were bracketed by a "Start Rel. Cl." and "End Rel. Cl." word-pair, with the latter being optional if sentance-final. --- Pb
