I've played this since childhood, making up a description of the car's
driver or his/her association. Thought it started with my dad, who
negotiated with a lot of unions, and who would make up acronyms for
fictitious ones. Like the PPP-JPBA, Polish Peanut Pickers and Jewish
Pretzel Benders of America. Works for religious orders too. I was even
taught by some RSM's, Regimental Sergeant Majors, otherwise known as
Sisters of Mercy.
As for playing with place names, we'd make up stories about how the
name came to be.
For example, when the wagon train reached California, the people
looked down on a pleasant valley and asked their
guide, "What do you call this place?"
He replied, "Ver' nice."
And then there is "She boy 'gan"
Que Deus te abençoe sempre, e de todas as maneiras,
Paul
