It is.

Hardly.
German would probably start it with [Str].
In my speech [t] and [d] go to [tS] and [dZ] before [r].
So the only difference between "truck" and "Chuck", or "drain" and "Jane" is the
[r] (that, and a little bit of anticipatory rounding).
