I'm not interested in the claim -- I'm not even interested in the
discussion (much). However, the mere statement 'people say (they
believe) X. I wonder whether they really believe it'. Implies you
suspect them of dishonesty. And that's not polite. That's the only
thing I really care for. People on this list shouldn't say to each
other 'you might say this, but I know you don't mean it.'
