Only if, like English, your language doesn't care one way or the other. A language such as Trebor is trying to create, where transitivity is a marked thing, it becomes everything but illusion. It is not illusory in Talarian, for example. While there is no marker that means "this verb is transitive", I frequently find that "intransitive" verbs are conjugated in the middle or stative. And of course, the statives themselves might as well be the "Intransitive Conjugation", since they can not take objects. Illusion? No more than anything else in language!
