A natlang example could be Swedish. The standard dialect and most other
dialects
use pitch accent, while the dialects of Swedish in Finland use
stress-accent, and both
do (most of the time) understand each other, and recognize what syllable is
accented.
So, if people were given time to get used to it, I don't think anyone would
have any problem with the various
kinds of accent.
