I was making no value judgments there, just what I hear. :) Usually,
when I hear it, it's "take a shit" or something to that effect. I actually
hear "scheisse" a lot -- which disturbs me now that I think about it;
I don't generally hang out around the German department on campus.

I have here:
twig: (twigged, twigging, twigs) British informal;
intr. -- to suddenly comprehend a situation; catch on.
tr. -- 1. to understand.
2. to observe or watch; to notice.
I assume that it's based on "dig : dug"?
