No. Nor was I alluding to the similarly (in)famous Jan Pieterszoon Coen, whose nickname was "IJzeren Jan", and who played a rather doubtful role in our colonial past.

The i-j ligature would be appropriate. The thing I produced with ASCII-code 152 is indeed the character you refer to, but looks pretty un-Dutch to me.
