New source for McGuffey's Reader text online

I've taken it upon myself to transcribe the new
revised 1879 edition of The McGuffey's Reader series
so others can have access to it as a conlanging
resource.

I've completed the first reader and have gone back to
do the primer. Then I'll do the second, third, fourth
and fifth. Beyond that if your conlang can handle
translations from the fifth reader it should be able
to handle translating anything!

These will be plain text files with descriptions of
the illustrations, and can be viewed or downloaded
from http://fiziwig.com/mcguffey.html

The stories are pre-technological, and the language a
bit archaic in spots, especially the punctuation
conventions of the 1830's.

Clearly they are not suitable for alien languages on
planets where horses and chickens don't exist, but
imaginative conlangers ought to be able to make
adjustments and substitutions of alien life forms,
habits and customs where necessary.
