Not only Yellowstone, but here in California there's a similar volcano (Called a
"Supervolcano" Called "Long Valley" that erupted 760,000 years ago, covering
Half of California, most of Nevada, Utah,
Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas, and Nebraska, and a little bit of South
Dakota and Idaho. The Caldera is huge... 32 Kilometers long, by 17 kilometers
wide. It is also near the
mountain known as Mammoth Mountain.
Interestingly a few years ago trees near Mammoth Mountain began to die off -- Carbondioxide
poisoning of their roots.
The crater, like Yosemite will blow again.
I doubt the survivors will speak American English, since it will probably wipe
out quite a few people in the future US if it exists, of course :)) (Actually,
by the time either volcano blows, i bet
American English will have become it's own unintelligible daughter of Modern English).
