Well, speculatively, I would expect that with the more modern,
cheap GDI printers the same problem _could_ occur. Those are the
printers that use the windows GDI subsystem to prepare the printed
page. I've never seen it happen, though, but then, we still use
the same HP deskjet we bought about seven or eight years ago. No
problems with most laserjets, either.
However, I've never had a problem with either PostScript
or TrueType using X Window or GhostScript, so there's always a
solution, even if it entails installing another OS ;-).
