Natlang question--distances?

Has anyone published a rough guage of relational distances among languages
of the Indo-European family as they are spoken (meaning including lexical
borrowings/fusions, etc.), not necessarily a cladistic descent?  I *do*
realize that this would be a tricky question, just wondering if anyone
has ever tackled it.
