This would probably be confusing. Personally, I have enough trouble with p and b (often, I start writing one when I should be writing the other, correct myself, and make a thorn), and the system you suggest is much worse. I can imagine: "Oops, that's not _orange_, it's _normal_!" Besides, your system is, quite frankly, ugly and plain. My language uses a cross between a syllabic alphabet and a normal alphabet (I'm thinking of converting it towards being a syllabic alphabet), and most of the letters are quite diverse. However, there are two common strokes, and most of the letters include one or the other. This is sufficient to unite the letters without being unclear (most of the time), except for a few purposeful ambiguities. As for an Asian style script, I'll not pretend to be smart enough to answer you.
