Re: Wales/Welsh -- "Wales" in Spanish is _Gales_. Is that just a borrowing from _Wales_ (like _guerra_ < _werra_), or does it have another origin? I've always associated it somewhat vaguely with _Gaul_/_Gallia_ and _Galicia_ (both Latin _Gallaecia_ and the *other* Galicia), and possibly even _Celt_, but I'm guessing those aren't really all related.
