Ah, thanks. I dunno if I've heard the word before or not (it rings a bell), but with no context I couldn't work it out. (As to the name of the believers, 'Muslim' is certainly a correct spelling, and I think it's the preferred one, at least in Australia. It's certainly the most common one, and the one reflected by the pronunciation /mUzl@m/. Another spelling is <Moslem>. I think the reason here is because Arabic only phonemically has /i/ and /u/, but phonetically has [e] and [o] as conditional realisations of them. I'm not sure. Someone who knows more about Arabic than me can probably give a better explanation.) Tristan
