No, seriously, I think to be honest the idea that French is beautiful was
more or less propagated by the French aristocrats during a time of the
preeminence of that language in Europe some centuries ago, and because
it was held in such high esteem (to the extent that Peter the Great's cou=
rt
spoke only in French), these rather unscientific ideas gained a wider
birth than they would have otherwise.
