LangMaker and the projects on FrathWiki are interesting and valuable because they are funky individualistic neighborhoods. Let's not be too eager to give up such things. If some big corporation were trying to buy and bulldoze a valuable historic district of our Real Life town many of us would object. How much individuality and autonomy are we willing to give up in pursuit of vague goals like "cross-pollination" and "encyclopedic articles"? See http://www.edge.org/3rd_culture/lanier06/lanier06_index.html for arguments against "Digital Maoism."
