Albert Camus' writing in the guestbook at an art exhibition by the artist
Yves Klein in April 1958. The exhibition's title: "Le Vide"...
[BTW one of my favourite colours is Yves Klein Bleu Internationale]

    "with the void, a free hand" is the translation I have had for some years
now and from at least 3 different reliable sources... I believe it is a
closer idiomatic translation than Christophe's "with the void, the full
powers" (not that Christophe is wrong or anything... who am I to say - being
horrible in French...)

    hehe, I have expanded _this_ "Cento" sig.line below... making it lil more
polyglot and cento-like ;)
    I have been considering writing a whole series of Centos... sort of like
a 21st century _Cantos_ except without Ezra Pound's obsessive fixations on
usury, Fascist ideology, Jeffersonian federalism, Modernism-via-Classicism
and Confucianism (in fact, my Cento idea is practically the polar opposite of
everything Pound "grab-bagged" into the Cantos. Under-rated, ignored poets
like Blaise Cendrars, Mina Loy, Paolo Buzzi and Thomas Merton are more my
"canon" than the usual canon of Pound, Eliot, & Co.)  ... Of course, I will
also incorporate certain various conlangs in my Centos ;) ...enuff said,
never enuff done... vestigia nulla retrorsum...
