Actually, it looks for temporary files that didnt get cleaned out when you
last installed a program, and it also cleans out the cache for your
browser too. Theres other things at that site like a year 2000 checkup.
I use it for the virus scan to make sure i'm not getting any viruses from
programs i have downloaded (it did find one, which was a macro virus for
Microsoft Word)
