By the ad hoc term 'holistic ambiguity', I meant that the
ambiguity lies not necessarily in syntax but anywhere in the
mapping from sound to sentence meaning. So holistic ambiguity
would include not only syntactic ambiguity of the sort you
exemplify, but also "I scream/ice cream" sorts.
