Adam, I regret the pain my remark caused you; causing
someone to suffer must necessarily be regretted. I
hope you might be mollified to learn that I intended
no offence and regret it.

Nevertheless, I do think it is improper of you to
reproach me for having an opinion that conflicts
with yours, or for the distressing effects that
difference of opinion has on your emotional state.
Only when the causer of your pain has committed some
kind of moral error is it just to *blame* the
causer of your pain for your pain.

Perhaps reproach would have been in order if I had
contrived to pour scorn and contempt upon you or
some larger section of humanity, but instead I
was simply engaged in an attempt to understand
IALing and in doing so perceived a potentially
illuminating similarity with (my attempts to
understand) religious faith -- as both involving
willing suspension of disbelief.
