From what I have seen in "word-for-word" translations of Theravada
Buddhist texts, I agree. My favourite is _The Dhammapada: A New English
Translation with the Pali Text and the First English Translation of the
Commentary's Explanation of the Verses With Notes Translated from Sinhala
Sources and Critical Textual Comments_ translated by John Ross Carter and
Mahinda Palihawadana, Oxford University Press, 1987 :)
And from what Pali-influenced lexical borrowings I have seen in Bahasa
Indonesia & Thai.
