i thought of the word proud, but decided it has too broad of a meaning to be
the antonym for regretful. one can be proud of an accomplishment or an act,
but the word can also refer to a general high opinion of oneself. one can be
proud of one's intelligence, but one can't regret one's stupidity. there are
problems with the word glad too, though, because it also covers meanings
outside of the scope of what i wanted. One can be glad of another's
presence, but they can't regret another person's presence. the word glad
extends into general happiness. So, i guess the meaning i was going for for
the antonym of regretful was the intersection of glad and proud.
