Ah, interesting indeed. :-) 'Matzen' is also same strange type of bread in German. I don't know French toast, but googling reveals it might be similar to what's called 'Arme Ritter' (lit.: 'poor knights') in German and made with normal toast, milk and sugar in a frying pan. It's not broken, but taken as a whole however. But it can easily be turned into some kind of porridge. :-) **Henrik
