<< Umm... perhaps not in American, but surely in British :-) Words like "butter" or "cut" surely has /a/ ?? Or "put" (as in, "shot put", not the verb "put".) T>>I think that even in RP the vowel in "butter" and "cut" is /V/... Imperative
