I should point out that, despite what I wrote above, in the sort of lexicon situation we're discussing where nearly every word on the page is a link to its translation (or something), I would absolutely turn underlining and color highlighting off for those links. As has been said, the visual "this is a link" indicators are for the occasional link in otherwise not-linked text.
