Re: McGuffy Readers: Image Copyright?

The originals were copyrighted in the early to mid
1800's. Revised editions were issued around the 1870's
to 1880's. They have been re-issued and reprinted by
several different publisehrs leading me to suspect
that they are in the public domain now.

The online text of the first reader at Gutenberg
differs from the physical copy of the first reader,
revised edition, that I got from ebay. My copy states
the most recent copyright as 1920, but it also bears
an ISBN number, so it was printed quite recently,
without any new notation of copyright more recent than
1920.
