I'd just put the day that begins at sunrise.
With my calendar, the problem is that the Terra Novan day is longer than
Earth's day, 25 hours, 52 minutes, 7 seconds to be exact. So, for my
entry, I put the date and time that midnight of the date (GMT)
corresponds to. For instance, January 1, 2000 = March 13, 809; 17:50
(East Landing Time Zone). Incidentally, the calendar was set up so that
Landing was 1001, in order that pre-Landing events could be easily
retrodated.
