That statement could be taken - and I'm worried that maybe it's /meant/
to be taken - as sarcasm targetted at the notion that I was posting to
show how things "ought to be done". It's more to do with pride in a
creative effort coupled with a fascination for structure that - I admit
it - has *more* than a little to do with asperger's syndrome and all that.
I will sometimes spend *hours* staring at text, especially if it's
something I've written myself, "playing" with the words. It's not that I
particularly enjoy this: it's just a natural, instinctive,
brain-in-neutral response.
For example I might read aloud the first word on every line, and imagine
that I was trying to guess the subject matter from just this information.
Or I might see if I can create new and amusing sentences by joining
together fragments that rest against the left margin. For example the
text above might be rendered:
That statement could be taken to show it's more fascination for
asperger's syndrome and I will sometimes spend something I've

I might see together fragments that post.
Or I might (I used to do this) treat text as a platform game and trace the
route of a little man down though all the spaces without ever falling
down two spaces at once (or whatever other rules I might invent).
Or I might just plain stare at the paper and be fascinated by it in ways
that words cannot express. You see, these things *do* intrigue me, and I
lose a *lot* of time over them. Sometimes I have trouble controlling
this urge, and it's probably that same abstract fascination with
structure that lead me to post a table of contents. Obviously I didn't
think it through at the time.
Does this make sense? Sorry.
Adrian.
