The equivalent of a "word", but exclusively depicting meaning (not sound / etc).

Transcribing a spoken conversation? Yes, certainly. But I would say that writing the *essence* of a conversation - i.e. the interplay of ideas - need not necessarily be linear. (At least, for conversations that have actual content.) Parts that rely on actual sequence of events (or sequence of processing, e.g. having understood X only after hearing Y) would obviously be a bit more difficult. - Sai
