Re: Hebrew calendar direction

Both. Most calendars in Israel show the Gregorian date in large print
(and the pages in the calendar are based on those months), and the
Hebrew month / date in much smaller print in one corner of the square
for each day. On Friday it shows what time to light candles for the
beginning of Sabbath, and in pocket diaries Friday has half the regular
space because most Jewish Israelis are only scheduling meetings until
about 1-2 pm (if at all), while Saturday has no room or hardly any room
to enter events, which irritates some Arab friends of mine.... And
usually only Jewish/Israeli festivals are marked in the calendar itself,
but the beginning of pocket diaries usually have a list of the Muslim
and Christian holiday dates (Western and Eastern traditions).
