Whenever I need a handle for IRC, or a message board, I use the name
"Doobieous", and obvious play on the word dubious :). I usually get
people who think I smoke marijuana because of it, but I do not, and that's
not where the doobie part come from. It actually originated with another
IRC nickname, Adobo (after the Filipino dish). I went by Adobo because I
needed something original, and no one else was using it at the same time.
Then when I went into another channel, everyone just called me "Doob". One
day, one of the girls asked if she could call me "Doobie" as a pet name. A
little later, I saw the word "dubious" on the net somewhere, and thought
about that pet name, so, I decided to change my IRC nickname to
"Doobieous", and now I use it for any message board or IRC channel I
visit. But, people still call me Doob or Doobie for short.
