And while I'm at it, I might add that "ObConlang" means
"obligatory conlang", i.e. something you write to make
your posting at least somewhat on topic.
Someone r e a l l y ought to make a FAQ for this list.
ObConlang:
{u} in Cein can be pronounced either exactly as {i}
([i:] and [I]) or as the rounded equivalent [Y] and
[y:]. Some speakers have a slightly more central
pronunciation, approaching [u-] or [1] (high, central,
(un)rounded). The difference is a matter of ideolectal
and dialectal differences.
This also affects the diphthongs {ae}, and {au}, which
are pronounced [aj], unless the speaker has the 'colored'
{u}. In that case, {ae} and {au} are pronounced [Aj], [Vj]
or even [@j].
Though I can't decide which to have as the standard
pronunciation. *sob*
