Runic writing had feature you really ought to include in Maggel's
orthography (if it isn't already): If a word ends in the same letter as the
the next begins in, the words are written together and the letter in
question is only written once. To add to the confusion, many Runes are
horribly polyvalent (I'm refering to the late, Nordic Runes) - only one
letter for /g k N/, and anone letter can be read as any of /i j e æ/ (the
last is ash). Add inconsistent use of the word-break marker, and you get
things like "a.ustarlar.ni.kafu" for _austarla ærni gafu_ "eastward the
eagle gave" (from an inscription on a stone from Gripsholm).
