Old Norse, French, Dutch (of Italian origin: "schizzo"), unknown,
Old Norse, unknown, and Old Norse respectively.
"Skimp" is interesting. It is first recorded in Middle English,
and is perhaps a variant of "scrimp", whose etymology is also
uncertain, though there are Swedish and German possible cognates.
The probable OE cognate surfaces as "shrimp", though not actually
recorded in OE.
