Yes, it feels much the same to me too.
The interface should be monotonously consistent across all applications,
as with Apple since the mid-1980's. (Not that I would suggest using
*that*.) The interface should suit the user, not the reverse.
X-Tree was the smoothest interface I have used, though it required
much getting-used-to; somehow MC hasn't done it for me.
When talking to a machine, in basically some kind of command mode,
it doesn't feel very conversational, and I want to just type a few words
and get immediate feedback. Speaking or pointing while watching
(file-name completion and such) seems a lot easier. But in the future,
I expect it will be different, more like talking with a person.
