Well, Steg, to echo John's two cents...the Maple Leaf and other Amtrak
runs go directly from NYC and Albany several times a day. I think it's
about two plus hours, and can't be more than about fifty dollars round
trip. (It's a hundred and seven dollars round trip to ride from Rochester
to NYC, so I'm basing my estimate on that; seventy dollars from Rochester
to Albany and back, and that was four hours). If you are a student,
though, I can understand how 45-50 bucks might be financially difficult.
But hardly difficult in terms of getting from one city to the next. Thank
goodness there is public transportation at all in this car-dominated
country, but there is, and Amtrak is reliable and cheaper than flying and
Albany is one of the most central cities in the state. Greyhound?
